The Abington Heights run to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 5A softball championship game led to two Lady Comets being named the best in the state in the classification.
Avary Brister was named Class 5A Player of the Year. Adrianna Condrad gave Abington Heights the Class 5A Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season. Eva Kane joined them on the first team.
Brister, an outfielder, batted .598 with an on-base percentage of .606 and a slugging percentage of 1.054. She had 55 hits, 40 runs, 44 RBIs, 16 doubles, a triple and eight home runs.
Condrad follows Lauren Stalica as the state Pitcher of the Year from Abington Heights. She had a perfect game and another no-hitter among her six shutouts while going 18-2 with a 1.50 earned run average. She struck out 191 while allowing 80 hits and 44 walks in 116 1/3 innings.
At the plate, Condrad also contributed with a .465 batting average, .500 on-base percentage and .860 slugging percentage. She had 40 hits, 37 RBIs, 11 doubles, a triple and seven homers.
Kane was also selected as an outfielder. The team’s leadoff hitter batted .470, had a .521 on-base percentage and slugged .783. Sh had 41 runs, 39 hits, 18 RBIs, 11 doubles, three triples and three homers.
