Abington Heights placed pitcher Nick Bradley on the first team and outfielder Evan Gonzalez on the second team in Class 5A when the Pennsylvania State Baseball Coaches Association named its all-state team.
Bradley, an Auburn University commit, was the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year as a junior.
Abington Heights shared the Lackawanna League Division 1 title with Bradley, and Gonzalez leading the way.
Bradley was the team’s top pitcher while Gonzalez was its most effective reliever. They also ranked 1-2 in many hitting statistics for the Comets.
The Comets got a boost offensively, on the way to at least a share of first for the third straight season, with Gonzalez batting behind Bradley in the order.
Bradley had a four-game stretch in which he threw a pair of one-hitters, then followed with back-to-back no-hitters.
As a pitcher, Bradley went 6-1 with a 1.54 earned run average and struck out 76 while allowing just 14 hits and 21 walks in 45 1/3 innings. He had been 9-0 with a 0.71 ERA as a junior and finished his career at 22-4 with a 1.46 ERA and a 230-47 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 148 1/3 innings.
Gonzalez had a team-high four saves and was 0-1 with a 1.17 ERA in 12 innings. He gave up six hits and six walks while striking out eight.
The two all-state selections shared the team lead with 26 hits each.
Gonzalez had the team’s highest batting average at .433 and on-base percentage at .514. Bradley was second in both categories with .406 and .500. Bradley led in slugging percentage with .797, and Gonzalez was second with .683.
Bradley led the team in doubles (six), home runs (five), runs scored (23) and RBIs (18).
Gonzalez, who had four doubles, had a team-high three triples while Bradley ranked second with two.
Gonzalez stole 10 bases, scored 18 times and drove in 14 runs. He hit one home run.
