Free Introduction to Fly Fishing program, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 21 at the Lackawanna State Park. The course, provided by the PA Fish and Boat Commission, is designed for families and individuals interested in learning the basics of fly fishing equipment, casting techniques and on water skills. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. April 16 and can be completed online at www.fishandboat.com under calendar of events. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and space is limited. Free Women’s Intro to Fly Fishing program, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 5 at Frances Slocum State Park. The 4.5 hour educational program, provided by PA Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) and the Stanley Cooper Chapter of Trout Unlimited, is designed for ladies interested in learning the basics of fly fishing. Participants will receive instruction from PFBC staff and community instructors. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend free on-water classes held throughout the year. The fishing license requirement is waived for participants age 16 and older. Pre-registration is required by May 3.
