The Abington Heights junior high softball team opened its season by defeating Minersville, 18-1, March 31. The Lady Comets banged out 14 hits, including home runs from Megan Heard and Lauryn Notari. Paige Walsh doubled, Renee McDonald had two hits and Lauryn Notari tripled and had six RBIs to lead the offense. Heard and Tawni Coronel stole two bases each. Marley Sarafinko sparked the Lady Comets defense while the pitching of Avery Fiorillo, Grace Lorah, Walsh, and Sophia Cody limited Minersville to three hits.
