Abington Heights junior high softball team picks up three wins

The Abington Heights junior high softball team recently won three games.

The Lady Comets defeated Valley View, 11-3, on April 13.

Bryn Stiles had a grand slam home run and Colleen Cole hit a three-run home run to lead the offense. Paige Walsh chipped in with two hits while Megan Heard stole two bases. The Lady Comets defense was led by Riley Dempsey, Colleen Cole, and Tawni Coronel. Grace Lorah tossed a five hitter and struck out six batters to pick up the win.

Abington Heights defeated Mid-Valley, 12-9, on April 14.

The Lady Comets finished with 15 hits and scored 10 runs in the first three innings.

Bryn Stiles hit a two-run home run, Avery Fiorillo doubled and tripled, Colleen Cole and Riley Dempsey had three hits each, and Margrette Phillips chipped in with two hits and two RBIs. Dempsey had four stolen bases while Cole, Fiorillo, and Tawni Coronel stole two bases each. The defense was led by Fiorillo, Cole, Brynn Hughes and Page Sandy. Fiorillo picked up the win while Grace Lorah pitched strong in relief.

Abington Heights defeated Northeast Intermediate School, 13-2, April 18.

Avery Fiorillo had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in six runs. Megan Heard and Tawni Coronel both doubled while Margrette Phillips had two hits and two RBIs. Colleen Cole and Lauryn Notari chipped in with two hits each. Tawni Coronel made two spectacular catches in center field while Cole and Ava Stafursky made nice fielding plays to lead the defense. Fiorillo tossed a three hitter and allowed one earned run while striking out 12 batters to pick up the win.
