36th annual Abington Heights PE Department Triathlon, 9 a.m. June 8 at Abington Heights High School. Rain date: June 11. The triathlon includes both Ironman and five-team participants, based on grade level. Each team consists of five participants: one biker (5 miles), two runners (2.5 miles each), and two canoers (course at Fords Pond). Ironman competitors perform each activity by themselves. All participants will receive lunch and a T-shirt.
4th annual Strawberry 5K Run & Festival, 9 a.m. June 30 at Spring and Davis Streets, Clarks Summit. The 5K Race will be followed by a Kids Fun Run. After the two races, families can enjoy the strawberry shortcake, strawberry lemonade, and other treats offered by The Gathering Place and local vendors. 3rd annual Breaking Clays for Kids Clay Shoot, 9 a.m. registration/breakfast July 13 at Rock Mountain Sporting Clays, 674 Mitchell Rd., Meshoppen. 10 a.m. shotgun start with lunch and an awards ceremony to follow at 1 p.m. Cost: $120 for individuals and $400 for teams of four. Registration fee includes ammo, breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt. Proceeds of the Bob Klein Breaking Clays for Kids Clay Shoot benefit the Children’s Center a private, nonprofit, charitable organization overseen by Family Services Association of NEPA.
