MOOSIC — The sixth annual Field of Dreams Games, presented by Lackawanna County, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and the Bill Howerton Strike Out Cancer Foundation will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at PNC Field. The event has been expanded this year and will feature a doubleheader as teams from both the Lackawanna League (LIAA) and the Wyoming Valley Conference (WVC) will be split into small school and big school squads.

The small school teams from the LIAA and the WVC will face off at 1:30 p.m. The big school teams from both leagues will play immediately following at approximately 4 p.m. Each team will consist of approximately 15 high school senior baseball players.

Scranton manager Jamie Higgins will coach the Lackawanna big school squad and Holy Cross manager Sandy Menichetti will coach the Lackawanna small school squad. Players from Scranton, Delaware Valley, West Scranton, Wallenpaupack, North Pocono, Abington Heights, Honesdale, Valley View, Scranton Prep, Western Wayne, Lakeland and Riverside are eligible to play for the Lackawanna big school team. Players from Mid Valley, Carbondale, Dunmore, Montrose, Elk Lake, Holy Cross, Blue Ridge, Lackawanna Trail, Mountain View, Old Forge, Susquehanna and Forest City are eligible to play for the Lackawanna small school team.

The Wyoming Valley big school team will be managed by Tunkhannock’s Gary Custer while GAR’s Kyle Paul will manage the Wyoming Valley small school team. Players from Hazleton Area, Wyoming Valley West, Pittston Area, Coughlin, Crestwood, Dallas, Nanticoke, Berwick and Tunkhannock will be eligible for the WVC big school team. Players from Wyoming Area, Meyers, GAR, Hanover Area, Lake-Lehman, Holy Redeemer, Northwest, Wyoming Seminary and MMI Prep will be eligible for the WVC small school team.

Rosters will be announced next week and each player named to the team will be honored on the field before the June 21 RailRiders game.
