Scranton Tennis Club hosts Blind Draw Mixed Doubles Tournament

CLARKS SUMMIT — Robbie Azzarelli won his third straight Blind Draw Mixed Doubles title June 16 at the Scranton Tennis Club, pairing this time with Jen Vitali to defeat Doug Klamp and Holly Packer, 5-3, in the final.
For Klamp, it was the third time he fell short in the Blind Draw final.
The match almost went to a tiebreaker when Azzarelli was serving at 4-3 and fell behind 0-40; however, Azzarelli and Vitali were able to win the next four points to take the title.
In semifinal action, Azzarelli and Vitali defeated John Lucas and Patti Ostroski, 5-2, while Klamp and Packer edged out Lou Cuck and Cati Wiss in a tiebreaker, 5-4.
A total of 26 players participated in three groups of round-robin play. The group winners and the best second-place team advanced to the semifinals.
John Weiss was the tournament director.
