SCRANTON — Abington American defeated Connell Park/East, 12-1, in four innings, in a District 17 9-10-11 year-old baseball All-Star pool play game June 24.

American scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Domenic Peters, who had three hits, singled and scored, Tate Pentasuglio singles and scored, Carson Bird doubled and scored on an error, Brock Pentasuglio singled and scored on a fielder’s choice, and Finn Goldberg singles and scored on an error.

American added two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Peters and Bird each singled and scored.

American tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Goldberg walked and scored, Peters singled and scored, Tate Pentasuglio was hit by a pitch and scored, and Christian Mamera and Christopher Begley each tripled and scored.

Cayden Booth had a double and Jack Alpert singled for Connell Park.

Winner pitcher Tate Pentasuglio struck out four batters for Abington American. Bird struck out two batters in one inning of relief.
