Abington National eliminated from Section 5 Major Little League tournament

DURYEA — Abington National went 1-2 during the Section 5 Little League Major baseball tournament.

A 9-0 loss to Green Ridge July 16 knocked National out of the tournament.

Andrew Summa led Abington with two hits, and Ryan Nealon, Reece Vida, Zach Brister and Gavin Walsh each had one.

Abington National opened its tournament with a 14-4 win over Pittston City/Duryea July 14.

Andrew Summa hit a grand slam home run and finished with five RBIs to lead Abington. Zach Brister had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Ryan Nealon had two hits, including a home run, and an RBI. Gavin Walsh and Michael Naegele each had a hit and two RBIs, Conner Abel had a hit and RBI, Thomas LaCoe had a RBI and Mark Nazar, who was the winning pitcher, added a hit for National.

Back Mountain National defeated Abington National, 4-1, July 15.

Ryan Nealon allowed four runs on three hits while striking out nine batters in five innings of work for Abington. Nealon and Mark Nazar each had a single for Abington.
