Approximately 60 children participated in a Future Stars Track Meet July 12 at Abington Heights High School.

The event, organized by seniors Dani Beamish, Calista Marzolino and Ryan Siebecker, featured a 50 and 100-meter dash (kids ages 4-5), a 200 and 400 meter dash, an 800 meter run (kids ages 7-10), a softball throw and long jump.

A second meet is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24 at the high school track. Registration will be from 2 to 2:40 p.m. with events starting at 3 p.m.

According to the event organizers, the goal is to get youths involved and interested in running, a sport that builds healthy lifestyle habits through a fun, encouraging atmosphere.
