BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Comets earn three wins

Abington Heights defeated Old Forge, 15-50, Dunmore, 15-50, and Riverside, 15-50, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Oct. 4 at Nay Aug Park. Ethan Mattox placed first in 16:46, Stephen Haggerty finished second in 17:02, Ryan Siebecker was third in 17:11, Damon Martin placed fourth in 17:22, Gavin Ross finished fifth in 17:32, Reid Mattox was seventh in 18:06 and Peter Egan placed 13th in 18:17.

Lady Comets earn two wins

Abington Heights defeated Old Forge, 15-50, and Dunmore, 15-50, in a Lackawanna League cluster meet Oct. 4 at Nay Aug Park. Abby Marion placed first in 18:48, Hannah Hughes finished third in 19:18, Sarah Bath was fifth in 19:28, Modupe Osuntokun placed eighth in 20:07, Ellie Saunders finished 12th in 20:52, Allison Dammer was 15th in 21:16 and Emma Arbuckle placed 16th in 21:18.

FIELD HOCKEY

Lady Lions, Lady Hawkeyes tie

Lackawanna Trail and Hanover Area played to a 0-0 tie in a Wyoming Valley Conference Div. 2 game Oct. 6. Lilly Rejrat made three saves for Trail.

Lady Warriors shut out Lady Comets

Wyoming Area defeated Abington Heights, 5-0, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Div. 1 game Oct. 4. Makenna Thorpe made 15 saves for the Lady Comets.

Lady Lions top Lady Trojans

Lackawanna Trail defeated Nanticoke, 6-1, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Div. 2 game Oct. 4. Alyssa Fowler scored three goals, Belle Coleman scored two, and Liz Litwin had one for the Lady Lions. Samantha Baltrusaitis, Rachael Beemer and Jordan Spencer each had an assist and Lilly Rejrat made five saves.

Black Knights blank Comets

Lake-Lehman defeated Abington Heights, 5-0, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Div. 1 game Oct. 1. Makenna Thorpe made 12 saves for the Comets.

BOYS GOLF

Two Comets qualify for regionals

Abington Heights’ Will Brown and Nick Sebastianelli both carded 71s and ousted teammate Troy Kelleher, who also shot 71, in a playoff for the final qualifying spot for the East Regional during the District 2 Class 3A Championships Oct. 1 at Elmhurst Country Club. Brown and Sebastianelli will tee it up at regionals Oct. 15 at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Comets blank Eagles

Abington Heights defeated Mountain View, 3-0, in a Lackawanna League Div. 1-2 crossover game Oct. 5. Connor Thorpe scored two goals and Gray-Paul Bossi had one for the Comets.

Warriors clip Comets

Delaware Valley defeated Abington Heights, 2-1, in a Lackawanna League Div. 1 game Oct. 3.

Cavs edge Comets

Scranton Prep defeated Abington Heights, 1-0, in a Lackawanna League Div. 1 game Oct. 1.

Lady Comets knock off Lady Warriors

Abington Heights defeated Delaware Valley, 1-0, in a Lackawanna League Div. 1 game Oct. 5. Riley Mulherin scored a goal off an assist from Anna Marchetta and Abbey Steenback made four saves for the Lady Comets.

Lady Comets top Classics

Abington Heights defeated Scranton Prep, 2-1, in a Lackawanna League Div. 1 game Oct. 3. Riley Mulherin scored two goals including the game winner, off an assist from Morghan Stiles, in overtime. Abbey Steenback made four saves for the Lady Comets.

Lady Comets hold off Lady Warriors

Abington Heights defeated Elk Lake, 3-0 (25-21, 25-6, 25-8), in a Lackawanna League match Oct. 4. Kylie Augis had 15 serving points, five aces and three assists for Abington Heights. Sophia Foster had five kills and three blocks, Victoria Cole had five kills and two aces, Adele Hollander had 10 digs and five kills, and Kaelee Whipple had six aces and four kills for the Lady Comets.

Lady Sabers top Lady Lions

Susquehanna defeated Lackawanna Trail, 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-8), in a Lackawanna League match Oct. 4. Danilyn Gardoski had 10 digs, three kills and three aces for Trail. Ashtyn Mecca added seven kills, six assists and three aces for the Lady Lions.

Lady Wildcats blank Lady Comets

Western Wayne defeated Abington Heights, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-18), in a Lackawanna League match Oct. 3. Adele Hollander led the Lady Comets with 12 digs, Gianna Toth had seven assists and four kills, and Sophia Foster had two kills and two blocks.

Lady Raiders sweep Lady Lions

Blue Ridge defeated Lackawanna Trail, 3-0 (25-5, 25-13, 25-17), in a Lackawanna League match Oct. 2. Monica Stuenzi led Trail with five kills and two digs and Abby Wilson had three assists and two aces.
