Joe Schneck, who led Keystone College to its first two National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s soccer national tournament appearances in his last two seasons leading an active team, has resigned his position.

Schneck will pursue professional interests outside of coaching, according to a story on the school’s athletic website. He led the program for eight seasons, including 2020 when the Giants were unable to play any games because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“I feel incredibly blessed to have led the men’s soccer program here at Keystone for the last eight seasons,” Schneck said. “The opportunity to build a program while developing young men was what initially brought me to Keystone. I am so proud of all my teams, the bonds that were built, and what they were able to accomplish both on the field and in the classroom.

“ … Though my time here is ending, I know these relationships will continue. I definitely look forward to watching the program grow in the coming years and will forever be a fan of Keystone soccer.”

Schneck led the Giants to Colonial States Athletic Conference championships in 2018 and 2019, qualifying them for their first two national appearances. He was named CSAC Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2019.

Keystone went 18-3-1 in the CSAC and 38-15-3 overall the past three years to raise Schneck’s career records to 36-22-2 in the conference and 68-52-6 overall.

“Joe is a true professional who left his mark at Keystone,” Keystone director of athletics Dr. Matthew Grimaldi said.

Schneck will volunteer with the program through the end of the semester. Assistant coach Jeremy Longchamp will continue with the program and handle recruiting inquiries while the head coach position is vacant.
