Luke Sirianni finished sixth in the state at 106 pounds and the Abington Heights team wound up second in District 2 in Class 3A wrestling.

Sirianni, a sophomore, finished 17-6 with three of the losses coming in successive weekends to Northampton’s Carson Wagner as they went through the individual postseason together.

During March, Abington Heights had two wrestlers compete in the Super Regional, Sirianni wrestle at the state tournament and then returned to team competition for the District 2 Dual Meet Championships.

Sirianni, who had earlier won a District 2 title and placed second to Wagner in the Northeast Regional, reached the Super Regional final where he again lost to Wagner, this time, 3-1, in overtime.

At Hershey for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Individual Championships, Sirianni wound up in four bouts that all went to decisions.

Kaedyn Williams from Manheim Township won the state title in the weight class by taking five straight decisions – three of them in Hershey – by three points or less.

Williams edged Sirianni, 5-3, in the quarterfinals.

Sirianni came back to handled Josh Jasionowicz from Stroudsburg, 9-2.

Dominic Flatt from Solanco beat Sirianni, 6-1, in the consolation semifinals. Wagner then beat Sirianni, 5-1, for third place.

Abington Heights placed 11th out of 47 teams that advanced wrestlers to the Quakertown Super Regional for Class 3A teams.

A forfeit and one-point decision put Sirianni in the championship match against Wagner.
