The Scranton Prep doubles team of Grace Castellano and Maddy Bormes defeated the West Scranton team of Celia Emiliani and Katherine Bernansky, 8-4, in the championship match of the sixth annual Abington Heights Junior Varsity Girls Tennis Tournament Sept. 25.

The tournament drew 15 doubles teams from five schools.

Castellano-Bormes reached the final with an 8-4 victory over Mary Booth-Paige Watt from Abington Heights. Emiliani-Bernansky downed Scranton Prep’s Grace Devine-Valerie Werhun, 8-4, in the other semifinal.

The consolation bracket championship was won by Diya Patel-Teyshree Patel from Scranton over Mandy Lahl-Adrianna Kushner from Holy Cross, 8-3.

Abington Heights assistant coach John Weiss was tournament director. Kelly Arp, Abington Heights head coach, assisted Weiss.
