Michael Gonzalez named assistant football coach at Keystone College

La PLUME — Head football coach Justin Higgins has announced the hiring of Michael Gonzalez as an assistant coach for the Keystone College program.

Gonzalez joins the Giants after working at Division III institute Saint Vincent College in Latrobe in western Pennsylvania, helping the Bearcats with all recruiting operations for the 2017 season.

Prior to Saint Vincent, Gonzalez worked at Division I University of Buffalo from 2016-17. Before joining collegiate football, he was a physical education teacher and high school football coach in New York for nearly a decade, serving a combined eight years at Wayland-Cohocton High School and Dansville High School.

Gonzalez received his bachelor’s degree from The College at Brockport in Physical Education and his master’s degree from Brockport in Athletic Administration. He played collegiately at the University of St. Mary, an NAIA program in Leavenworth, Kansas.

He and his wife Stephanie have two dogs, Zorro and Oreo.
