DICKSON CITY — Join the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter on Wednesday, July 17 for a showing of the “Secret Life of Pets 2” at the shelter’s first ever Drive-In Movie Night fundraiser.

It’s summer, and with school out and the weather being so nice, it’s a perfect time to pack up the family and pets – yes, you read right – and your pets – into the family vehicle for a fun animal loving night.

Jacob Torba, fundraising and development coordinator, said, “Griffin Pond receives all of the ticket sales for the evening. Which could add up to a pretty good amount depending on the turnout. Who wouldn’t want to see a pet-related movie to help support the shelter?”

The event will be held at the Circle Drive In at 1911 Scranton Carbondale Highway. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie is scheduled to begin at dusk. The first 25 cars will receive a complimentary gift bag. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per car.

Bring as many pets as you want. Management only asks you to be respectful and clean up after your pets and keep them on a leash at all times.

According to Torba, “Fidelity Bank of Scranton and The Bar and Company decided to help by sponsoring this specific event. To cover costs of the drive in’s employees for that evening by holding this fundraiser, we would have had a small fee related to this fundraiser. Now, we are able to help advertise for their businesses, and they are able to help us save money to be better spent on the animals.”

The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter will not have animals at the event as it is late in the evening and into the night. They will; however, have a table set up with information about the shelter along with their adoptable pets in order to, hopefully, reach those looking to adopt.
