It was a sunny and hot afternoon on Aug. 11 when a small group of families from the Dalton Community Library gathered safely at the Dalton Streamside Park.

The Fidelity Bank of Clarks Summit provided their ice cream truck to honor families who participated in our library’s Summer Quest program. What a fantastic way to celebrate summer and everyone’s participation in this year’s Summer Quest with ice cream!

Although the library’s Summer Quest program was very different this year, one thing was certain: education was encouraged through playing, reading and sharing ideas. Families who participated got a summer treat and enjoyed each other’s company safely.

The friendships that were strengthened this summer will always be special. The children’s sticky smiles showed their happiness that afternoon!

After the icy treats, families walked down to the park’s creek to not only cool down but also to have fun. What a beautiful gathering! Thank you to the Fidelity Bank of Clarks Summit for supplying the ice cream and to our friends who participated. The support your families bring to the programs makes our library complete.

Dalton Community Library’s convenient pick-up window hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday’s full-day browsing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.

As a reminder, to use our pick-up window, please call the library at 570-563-2014 to place books to hold, or use your online account to place holds before arriving.

We are also happy to be able to place Inter-Library Loans for patrons, too. Simply call the library with the information of the book requested. Inter-Library Loans are a great service we offer in Lackawanna County; all we ask is your patience as we try our best to get you the items you want.

At this time, we are able to accept book donations, too. Please box or bag your donations, and leave them on our front porch. Thank you in advance for any donations made to our library.

We hope everyone has a nice month. Best of health to all families!

Jennifer Familetti is a program coordinator at Dalton Community Library.
