Hello all,

We hope today finds you well. The libraries of Lackawanna County are closed still, as of this writing, but there are many plans being made for when it is safe to open. The Dalton Library Staff, Board of Directors, and Friends Group of the Dalton Community Library are planning everything possible to assure patrons that the library is a clean and healthy environment upon reopening. Of course, the friendliness and heart of our library community are always present. During May, we usually look forward to the annual Herb Sale held by The Friends of the Dalton Community Library. We regret to inform patrons that this is another event that must, unfortunately, be canceled. But, here are a few special dates to keep in mind this month:

Sunday, May 10: Mother’s Day

Saturday, May 16: Armed Forces Day

Monday, May 25: Memorial Day

There are a few messages we must relay to our patrons that are very important.

• Please DO NOT drop off book donations on the library’s porch. Although we appreciate your thoughtfulness, we can not accept donations at this time. We will accept them as soon as we can do so safely and effectively.

• The Book Return Dropbox on the library porch remains locked.

• Due dates for all borrowed books will continue to extend automatically during the time libraries are closed.

• No one will accrue late fees during the time of closure.

We would like to thank those patrons who have reached out to us to show support during the time our library is closed. Receiving your emails and positive messages have been greatly appreciated during these tough days. Keeping connected to our patrons and serving our community’s needs at this time is important to us as your local library. Getting emails to say Thank you or letting us know how your family is doing means so much! Thank you, patrons, for your kindness! Emails or any questions can be sent to JFamiletti@albright.org.

Also, please check out our county library’s website at www.lclshome.org. The following are some interesting websites that are fun for all ages:

• National Geographic

• National Geographic Kids

• Smithsonian Zoo Cams

• National Aquarium

• Guggenheim Museum, New York … a website for arts and culture

The list below are some ideas for those not using the internet or need a break from online classrooms:

• Go for a walk and take deep, replenishing breaths

• Soak up some sun to relax outside

• Sidewalk chalk, hopscotch, drawing

• Listen to the radio

• Visit a neighbor while keeping at least 6 feet apart. Stack rocks- did you know rock stacking is a sign of inner balance

Stay Home, Be Patient, Stay Safe.
