Coach Herman Little Basketball Clinics, the first clinic, for boys and girls ages 6 to 9, began Oct. 3 and will be held for six weeks on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 5 p.m., at the Waverly Community House. Lakeland Color Run, 9 a.m. Oct. 15 on the 3.2 mile Lakeland Cross Country course. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Walkers will start at 9:15 a.m. Cost: $15 for students, $20 for adults. Children under free can participate for free. Registration includes two powder packets, additional packets may be purchased on race day. All proceeds benefit people with disabilities at Allied Services. Sunglasses and socks will also be available for purchase. Runners should wear a white or light colored shirt.

Recovery is H.O.P.E. 5K Walk/Run, 9 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Olive Street Trailhead of the LHVA Trail. 5Kate: The Mental Illness Awareness Run/Walk and Kids Run, noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Valor Field at Scranton Memorial Stadium and the Lackawanna Heritage Trail. Registration will be held prior to and on the day of the race. Cost: Teen and adult runners and walkers, $25; Children, $5. Kids will receive candy bags in conjunction with Halloween. The event, in memory of Katie Shoener, will feature live entertainment from the Gerard Mayer Band, tents, local organizations, kid’s games and “trick or treating,” counsellors and a local speaker. Costumes are not required, but encouraged.

Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club ‘Turkey Shoot,’ 9 a.m. Nov. 6 on club grounds, Lake Winola Road. Breakfast and lunch will be available in the kitchen. Prizes will include a frozen turkey or gift card. Rifle, handgun and shotgun competitions will be held.
