Abington Heights had three players recognized, including two who received special awards, when the Pennsylvania State High School Softball Coaches Association named its all-state teams in July.

Lauren Stalica was named Class 5A Pitcher of the Year along with being on the first team where she was joined by Abington Heights teammate Adrianna Condrad, a selection at first base.

Hunter Kresge was selected to the second team as an outfielder and was one of three players from the entire state to receive the association’s Courage Award for her success in coming back from injury.

Stalica struck out 144 while walking just 37 and going 13-3 with a 2.72 earned run average in 92 2/3 innings. She also led the offense in the Triple Crown categories, hitting 10 home runs, driving in 31 and batting .566.

Condrad, a sophomore, hit .433 with seven doubles, two triples and two home runs. She also posted an 0.86 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings as the team’s second pitcher.

Kresge batted .393.

The Lackawanna League had two players named Player of the Year — Kalli Karwowski from state champion Valley View in Class 4A and Mia Galella from Holy Cross in Class A.
