1967 — A crowd of about 300 Factoryville residents and visiting postmaters attended a dedication ceremony for the borough’s new post office.
The Lackawanna Trail High School Band, under the direction of Mrs. Lorenzetti, opened the festivities with some musical selections.
Other people who participated in the ceremony included William C. Wademan, postmaster at the time; Harry W. Gregory, program chairman; Rev. William Buffton, of Factoryville Methodist Church; Mayor Joseph Rought; Willard K. Davis, who presented a short history of the post office; Cecil Krewson Jr., editor of the Tunkhannock Republican and co-publisher of the Trail Examiner; Julius M. Kirch, postal service officer from the regional headquarters in Philadelphia and Rev. Msgr. Charles W. Heid, of Our Lady of Snows Church in Clarks Summit.
A flag raising was conducted by Kenneth Reynolds and members of Boy Scout Pack 175, Cub Scout Pack 175, American Legion Post 375 and a color guard from the 109th Infantry Division. Miss Becky Naylor sang the Star Spangled Banner, accompanied by the band.
1977 — The Factoryville Elementary School’s kindergarten students presented a show titled “The Magic Forest,” with students dressed as various wildlife.
Songs sung in the program included “The Ballad of Woodsy Owl,” “Hop Little Frog” and “Where is Thumpkin?”
1987 — Kristin Cupillari, of Factoryville, was preparing to dance a farewell performance in The Dance Studio’s production of “Just Dancin’” at the Masonic Temple, Scranton.
“Cupillari, a senior at Scranton Prep, has studied at The Dance Studio under the direction of Joanne Arudino for nine years,” read the caption under her picture. “She will perform in jazz and tap numbers, and will be featured in a modern dance, as well as in the graduating seniors’ numbers.”
