Madison Zalewski was named Field Performer of the Meet as Abington Heights athletes led the way on their home track June 2 when the County defeated the City 82½-57½ in the girls portion of the second annual Lackawanna League Track and Field Coaches Association Senior All-Star Meet.
Zalewski won the javelin with a throw of 116-2 and high jump by clearing five feet and also finished second to teammate Gianna Julian in the shot put.
Emma Horsley led off the 3200-meter relay win, was part of a win in the 1600 relay and won the 800 in 2:39.87.
Julian added a discus victory with a throw of 94-6 to her win in the shot put.
Abington Heights girls accounted for 31 individual points along with Horsley helping the County produce 10 more in the relays.
Hailey Hirtz finished second in the 3200.
Mid Valley’s Mae Kaufman was the MVP of the meet. West Scranton’s Emily Stefani from the City team was selected as the Track Performer of the Meet.
Sean Rooney led the way as the Abington Heights boys also contributed heavily to a 96-54 victory by the County.
Rooney won the 800 in 2:15.88 and was part of wins in the 3200 and 1600 relays.
Declan Walsh was third in the high jump and long jump.
Scranton Prep’s Chino Gonzalez, in the shot put, and Shawn Rowell, in the high jump, had wins for the City.
Colin Comerford from Scranton Prep was third in the 3200.
Mid Valley’s Victor Holt was the MVP for his role in the County win.
The City’s Colin Manley from West Scranton and Ben Ostroski from Wallenpaupack were selected as the Track Performer and Field Performer of the Meet.
