Abington Heights placed second out of 11 teams in the Lackawanna League and advanced to the District 2 Class 3A boys volleyball semifinals before its season came to an end.

Top-seeded Delaware Valley, the Wyoming Valley Conference champion and eventual tournament champion, knocked Abington Heights out of the district tournament May 20 with a 25-13, 25-18, 25-13 sweep on its home court.

Abington Heights had won at home May 15 in the quarterfinals, defeating Scranton in four sets.

The Comets won by scores of 26-24, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15.

Abington Heights was 9-1 during the Lackawanna League season, losing only to league champion Blue Ridge, which went on to also capture the District 2 Class 2A title.

Lackawanna Trail went 3-7 in the league and did not qualify for the district playoffs.
