Lackawanna Trail placed four players each on all-state football and field hockey teams that were announced in December.

Defensive back Max Kimmel, running back Isaac Ryon, offensive lineman Lucas Evans and linebacker Demitrius Douglas were Class A all-state selections by Pennsylvania Football Writers.

Tea Burns and Nora Evans were first-team Class A all-state choices by the Pennsylvania Field Hockey Coaches Association. Greta Krimmel was named to the second team and Megan Fahey received honorable mention.

Kimmel, a repeat selection, accounted for four defensive touchdowns as Lackawanna Trail won Lackawanna Football Conference Division 3, District 2 Class A and District 2-11 Class A Subregional titles. He returned three of his nine interceptions for scores and also brought a fumble back 98 yards for a score. Kimmel was also the team’s top receiver.

Ryon led District 2 in scoring, combining his 29 touchdowns with his contributions as a kicker. He rushed for 1,719 yards, including 305 in a 47-46 state tournament loss to Muncy.

In addition to being one of the team’s top defenders, Douglas also scored 20 touchdowns and was the team’s second-leading rusher.

Lucas Evans was a key blocker in the Lions’ highly productive ground game.

Lackawanna Trail followed up a trip to the 2023 state championship game by going 12-5-1 this season.

All four players repeated their level of all-state recognition from the 2023 District 2 championship season.

Nora Evans, a senior midfielder/defender, was second on the team in assists with 10 and third in goals with 13.

Burns, a senior defender, scored nine goals and assisted on seven.

Krimmel, a junior forward, was the team’s top scorer with 17 goals and 13 assists.

Fahey, a junior midfielder/forward, had five goals and seven assists.
