The Abington teams are once again in contention for multiple District 17 Little League Baseball titles.

Abington’s three entries in the various age groups went a combined 10-1 in pool play, then won their only two bracket games that were completed in June.

The 9-11-year-old team avenged the only loss, setting up a July 1 rematch with South Scranton.

South Scranton went 4-0 in pool play and Abington was 3-1.

After opening the double-elimination bracket with a 16-7 victory over Dunmore June 28, Abington avenged its loss with a 15-5 win over South Scranton June 29.

That set up a final where Abington was one win away from the title while South Scranton needed two straight wins to claim the championship.

Carson Walsh led the way in the rematch with a home run, single, four RBI and three runs scored.

Declan Grady and Bradey Bleich each had three hits.

Winning pitcher Evan Ross struck out six and provided an early RBI triple.

Abington went 4-0 in the Major division for 10-12-year-olds. It landed the top seed in the four-team double-elimination bracket with Moosic, West Scranton and Dunmore.

Abington was 3-0 in the 8-10-year-old division where the other three teams were 1-2 each. The round-robin in that division was strictly to set up seeding for double-elimination play.
