Pitching carried the Abington Senior American Legion Baseball team to the top of the District 11 standings.

J.P. Kehoe and Derek Locker combined on a no-hitter June 27 in a 4-0 victory over West Scranton to move Abington a half-game in front in the league standings.

The shutout was the third in a six-game winning streak to end the month with an 8-2 record. One of the wins was by forfeit.

Kehoe struck out 10 and walked one in 5 1/3 innings. Locker got the last five outs, including two by strikeout.

It was the second time in June that Kehoe started and Locker finished a no-hitter.

Carson Bird led the offense with a double, single and run scored.

Abington shut out Montrose 1-0 and 3-0 and edged Dickson City 2-1 during the streak. The only high-scoring game during that stretch was an 11-8 victory over Green Ridge June 23.

Kehoe pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in the first game of the Montrose doubleheader June 12.

Thomas LaCoe doubled to drive in Tate Pentasuglio with the only run in the third inning.

Bird threw a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks to complete the sweep.

Bird also had a four-hitter against Dickson City.

Alec Weinberger drove in one run and scored the other.

Weinberger led the offense against Green Ridge, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.

LaCoe and Hunter Pentasuglio each went 2-for-2 with a double and four runs scored. LaCoe drove in two while Hunter Pentasuglio drove in one.

Abington also opened the season with a no-hitter June 2 when three pitchers overcame six walks in a 7-1 victory at West Scranton.

Kehoe walked four and struck out seven while giving up the only run in his four-inning start. Conner Kalinoski struck out four and walked two in two innings. Locker struck out the first two batters he faced in a 1-2-3 seventh.
