SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. — Matthew McDonnell, 6, has been battling a rare form of Wilm’s tumor (kidney cancer) since age 3 and relapsed for the third time in July of this year. Community members are invited to a special event organized by Matthew’s family and friends, to join voices in prayer for his health.

Praise in the Park for Matthew’s Miracle, an evening of “praise, worship, prayer and music,” will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Hillside Park. Attendees should bring lawn chars or blankets to sit on.

A first grade student at South Abington Elementary School and son of Patrick and Linda McDonnell, of South Abington Township, Matthew is undergoing a new treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), using a trial immunotherapy drug. He is the first patient at CHOP to enter this trial.

For more information about the event, call 570-947-2474.
