DALTON — The Chi Rho Singers will put on a concert at Dalton United Methodist Church on Thursday, Feb. 22.
They are a choir of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church. They include approximately 25 actors and retired pastors under the direction of Reverend James Hollister, pastor of Countryside Community Church and Reverend Bruce Smith, pastor of Gettysburg United Methodist Church.
The local members are Pastor Jean Blackie of Dalton/Factoryville United Methodist Church and Robin Filmore, of Lake Winola United Methodist Church, and Deb Dailey, who had served at Bethel United Methodist Church
Several instruments will be played to accompany the group. Reverend David Dearing and Joni Robinson will play piano. Reverend Doug Eberly will play bass. Pastor T.J. McCabe will play percussion.
The Chi Rho Singers are from Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland. They come to churches as they’re invited from May to September during the fourth Wednesday of the month. The started in 1972. They are the only choir that includes United Methodist Church pastors in the United States.
In March, the Chi Rho Singers will perform at Grace United Methodist Church at Centre Hall. In April, they will play at Forty Fort United Methodist Church. In May, they will be at Jaggard United Methodist Church in Altoona.
