Jackson McGuinness leads the way for the Abington Heights boys volleyball team both in winning points quickly and in finishing points at the net.

The Comets were in second-place in the Lackawanna League going into their April 30 home match with North Pocono. By putting back-to-back wins together three times, Abington Heights is 6-1 in the league and 6-5 overall.

McGuinness has the team lead in service aces with 24 and kills with 101.

Ryan Horutz leads in assists with 232; Chris Cummins in digs with 127 and Jackson Wentz in solo blocks with five.

Horutz has 20 aces while Cummins and Wentz have 14 each.

The Comets are getting contributions from many other players.

Shawn Theodore has 84 kills, Shane Brower has 57 and Wentz has 39. Brower has a team-high 22 total blocks.

Dane Huggler has 35 assists.

Horutz has 59 digs and Chase Beermann has 56.

Abington Heights swept Lackawanna Trail April 25 for its most recent case of consecutive wins.

The only league loss came against Blue Ridge, which is 11-0 overall on the season as District 2’s only unbeaten team and has done so by sweeping every opponent.

The Lions have lost six in a row, but in their return to the sport this season, they have managed six victories.

Lackawanna Trail was 3-6 in the league and 4-9 overall going into its April 30 match at West Scranton.
