State law makes county treasurers responsible for licensing qualified organizations to use small games of chance as fundraisers.
To ensure that local nonprofits do so legally, Lackawanna County Treasurer Angela Rempe Jones will conduct a free seminar on small games of chance, featuring Derrick Devaney, liquor enforcement officer for the state Bureau of Liquor Control’s Allentown District Office.
The free event is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Lackawanna College, 501 Vine St., Scranton.
Devaney will provide details and updates on the state Small Games of Chance Act, information on the legal operation of the games, and information on state-required documentation.
Other event sponsors are Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher, state Sens. Rosemary Brown and Marty Flynn, and state Reps. Kyle J. Mullins, Kyle T. Donahue, Bridget M. Kosierowski and Jim Haddock.
