Lackawanna County officials recognized EMS Week, the third week of May. Emergency Medical Service personnel are everyday heroes. First responders are on the job 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing lifesaving care and assistance to individuals who experience sudden illness, serious injuries, or traumatic events. The work performed by nurses, doctors, firefighters, law enforcement, dispatchers, and others is the culmination of several hours of training and education focused on the goal of saving lives.
