CLARKS SUMMIT — Dawn Williams, owner of Sunrise Cafe, opened the small Depot Street diner for business Nov. 1, 2001. She and her family members, staff and customers celebrated its 15th anniversary Tuesday with a free customer appreciation lunch, an annual tradition Williams started at the completion of the business’ first year.

“It’s just as much fun today as it was 15 years ago,” Williams said of her role as business owner.

She referred to the complimentary meal as her way of “giving back” to the community and the people who support the Sunrise Cafe. When asked about the business’ longevity and continued success, she credited the people who regularly support it.

“We have a lot of good customers, good people, a lot of friends – you get to know them pretty well, seeing them for 15 years, day after day,” she said.

Two such people, Frank Miller, who comes in for breakfast every morning, and Ken Jenkins, who eats there once or twice a week, sat at the counter conversing during the celebration.

“It’s the best restaurant in town,” Miller said, adding the food is good and the service is quick.

Jenkins agreed, saying the service is also friendly.

“Everyone knows your name,” he said.
