Step By Step Inc. was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Scranton Area Community Foundation to help repair the agency’s Supported Living Residential Service Program properties located in Dunmore.

Step By Step’s Supported Living Services Program is designed to support individuals in their transition from Clarks Summit State Hospital to an apartment setting in the community. The program provides supportive living services to six young adults (ages 18-25) who have a dual diagnosis of mental health and drug and alcohol dependence.

“Step By Step is very grateful to the foundation for their support of our mission and the individuals we serve,” Meg Lukaszewski, Vice President of Step By Step’s Northeast Region, shared.

Step By Step Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation providing community support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, behavioral health difficulties, autism spectrum disorders and physical disabilities. Established in 1977, the agency today provides services to more than 2,000 individuals in four regions across more than a dozen Pennsylvania counties.

The Scranton Area Community Foundation has been serving the Northeastern Pennsylvania region for over 65 years as a steward, a grantmaker, a charitable resource, and a catalyst for change and growth.

The Scranton Area Community Foundation holds and manages a variety of funds from individuals, organizations, and corporations. Through these gifts, the Foundation responds to community needs and opportunities with grants in such diverse fields as health, education, arts, environment, human services and civic affairs.
