TUNKHANNOCK — “Narratives and Images of the People of Bangladesh,” will be presented by Dr. Rahman Bhuiyan, Keystone College Fulbright Scholar, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Dietrich Theater. The program is free and open to the public.
How does one even begin to talk about the people of his country, especially when having to cover a population of 160,000,000 – half the size of the United States – living in a landmass the size of Wisconsin? Bhuiyan will talk about some of the things these people and his audience have in common, sharing stories and images.
Bhuiyan is an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of English and Modern Languages at North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Contemporary Literary Theory, Romanticism, Twentieth-Century Fiction in English, and Nineteenth-century British Fiction. He is currently a Fulbright scholar at Keystone College.
The Fulbright Program is an American scholarship program of competitive, merit-based grants for international educational exchange for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists, founded by United States Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946.
Free tickets to the presentation are available at the door and reservations can also be made by calling 570-996-1500.
