Mujaheed Muhammad rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries Oct. 15 to lead Keystone College to its first football victory as a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III program, 41-39, over Anna Maria College in an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference game in Paxton, Mass.
Keystone went into the game 0-16 in its two seasons. The Amcats entered the game with a 3-2 record.
Both teams gained 474 yards of total offense. Keystone showed balance with 243 yards passing and 231 rushing.
Muhammad ran 20 yards for a second-quarter touchdown, then scored from 52 yards in the third quarter for a 34-19 lead.
Josue Hernandez made both his field goal tries and all five extra points.
The Giants ended October at 1-3 in the ECFC and 1-7 overall.
MEN’S SOCCER
Clarks Summit University earned its first Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff berth since 2013 with a 3-0 shutout of the University of Valley Forge Oct. 29.
CSAC scoring leader Kingsley Okoi scored twice.
The CSAC playoffs opened Nov. 1.
Keystone earned a bye into the Nov. 3 semifinals by going 4-1-2 in the CSAC.
The Giants (7-8-2 overall) defeated Clarks Summit, 2-0, when the local rivals met Oct. 12.
Mathias Trujillo scored his first career goal on the first of two Axel Gonzalez assists.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Keystone finished 3-4-2 in the CSAC and 6-8-2 overall.
The Giants had their season ended in a 3-0 loss to Wilson College in the conference quarterfinals.
Keystone posted a 6-0 victory over Clarks Summit (2-6, 5-8-3) Oct. 5 when Brooke Freni and Natalie Cross scored two goals each.
FIELD HOCKEY
Keystone finished second in the CSAC regular season, going 4-1 in the conference and 8-8 overall.
The second-seeded Giants host Cedar Crest Nov. 2 in the semifinals, trying to get to the Nov. 5 final.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Keystone went 7-2 in the CSAC and 12-2 overall to land a home-court advantage for the Nov. 1 quarterfinals against Rosemont.
The tournament continues Nov. 3 and 5.
Adrianna Derrick had 11 kills when Keystone swept Clarks Summit, 25-10, 25-12, 25-8.
Clarks Summit finished 1-8 and 1-25.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Heidi Floyd was fifth and Caden Laidlaw seventh for Clarks Summit at the CSAC Championships.
The Defenders were fifth of six teams.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Clarks Summit finished second of five teams in the CSAC Championships.
Keystone’s Corey Scochin finished seventh of 35 runners.
Ryan Spinello was ninth to lead Clarks Summit.
BASKETBALL
Both Keystone teams are predicted to finish fourth in the CSAC, according to preseason coaches’ polls.
The women open their season Nov. 8 at home against Wilkes.
Keystone plays a men’s exhibition game at Army Nov. 7, then opens at Brockport Nov. 11.
