Lackawanna Trail’s hopes of making it to a second straight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class A championship game came to an end Oct. 24 when the Lady Lions fell to host Lake-Lehman, 2-1, in a District 2 semifinal.

Lake-Lehman held Lackawanna Trail to a single shot on goal.

Emma Thomas scored on that shot with 4:57 remaining to cut into a two-goal deficit.

Lake-Lehman got a goal midway through the first quarter from Sage Morgan, who assisted Olivia Oliver’s goal late in the third quarter.

Kiera Mulhern made nine saves in the loss.

Megan Fahey assisted the goal by Thomas.

Lake-Lehman led 13-1 in shots and 8-4 in penalty corners.

The Lady Lions finished 12-5-1.

Lackawanna Trail 9, Tunkhannock 0

London Lisk, Megan Fahey and Tea Burns scored two goals each as Lackawanna Trail shut out visiting Tunkhannock Oct. 21 in the District 2 Class A quarterfinals.

Lisk and Fahey also had assists.

Ella Dewey, Nora Evans and Emma Thomas each had a goal and an assist.

Keira Mulhern had two saves in the shutout.

Dallas 2, Abington Heights 0

Davyn Bonvie made six saves and Dallas scored two second-half goals to defeat visiting Abington Heights in a District 2-4 Class 2A Subregional quarterfinal game Oct. 23.

Bianna Casey and Caroline Pitarra scored the goals.

Dallas led in shots on goal 9-5. Abington Heights led in penalty corners 8-3.

Lucy Gonzales made seven saves in the loss.

Abington Heights finished the second 3-14.

Season recap

Lackawanna Trail went 5-4-1 to finish of 11 teams in Division 1 of the Wyoming Valley Conference, which was won by Wyoming Area as part of an unbeaten regular season by the Lady Warriors.

Greta Krimmel was the team’s leading scorer overall with 17 goals and 13 assists.

Thomas had 14 goals and Evans had 13. Evans was also second on the team in assists with 10.

Abington Heights finished 1-9, tied with Honesdale for the bottom spot in the division standings.
