Abington Heights, Scranton Prep and Lackawanna Trail all took winning Lackawanna League records into the Sept. 30 boys cross country race.

The Comets and Cavaliers were both 11-2 while the Lions were 7-6.

Abington Heights won four of five meets Sept. 23 at Valley View, losing only to first-place Elk Lake, which swept the top three spots in the six-team race.

The Warriors defeated the Comets 21-34.

Abington Heights topped Valley View (21-38), Montrose (21-37), North Pocono (18-45) and Blue Ridge (19-42).

Elk Lake had four of the top five finishers with Timothy Fogley from Abington Heights breaking that up and taking fourth in 16:51.9.

Jack Shoemaker was seventh, Nick Sutton, Mario Marsala and Aashrith Goli finished in succession in 13th, 14th and 15th out of 70 runners.

William Arp was 20th and Owen Scharle 22nd.

Teams travel in clusters each week of the Lackawanna League season.

Lackawanna Trail runs with Western Wayne and Lakeland each week while Scranton Prep and Holy Cross run together.

The Sept. 23 meets are the only ones where teams are scored against the schools they run with each week.

Scranton Prep went 4-0 in that meet at Lakeland, beating Holy Cross (20-43), Lackawanna Trail (23-38), Western Wayne (16-47) and Lakeland (22-39).

Lackawanna Trail went 2-2 with a one-point loss to Holy Cross and wins over Western Wayne and Lakeland.
