Keystone College’s nationally prominent baseball team is scheduled to begin its season with four games Feb. 24-26 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Giants were ranked 24th when D3baseball.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released their Preseason Top 25 for National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams.
Keystone finished 23rd in the final poll a year ago after going 15-1 in the United East Conference and 37-11 overall. The Giants won their 20th straight conference championship and the NCAA Tournament bid that went with that title.
The Giants offense ranked in the top 10 nationally in runs scored, batting average and stolen bases during the 2025 season.
Wisconsin-Whitewater, the defending national champion, opened the season at No. 1. Keystone’s conference supremacy could be tested with United East rival Penn State Harrisburg opening the season as the No. 21 team.
The Myrtle Beach trip to the Cal Ripken Experience will feature three of the four games, including a season-opening doubleheader, against Hanover College.
Keystone was also ranked 27th in the American Baseball Coaches Association preseason poll.
Men’s basketball
Keystone ended January with two straight losses to head into February with a 3-7 United East record and 5-16 overall mark.
The Giants had used a high-scoring offense to win two of their three games prior to that, beating Gallaudet 109-69 Jan. 17 and Notre Dame of Maryland 98-86 Jan. 24, both at home.
Scranton graduate P.J. Murphy’s shooting led the win over Gallaudet. Murphy scored 28 points by going 5-for-8 from 3-point range and putting up the same numbers from inside the arc.
Jden Golding was 9-for-12 while finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds against Notre Dame.
Golding leads the team with 17.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
Women’s basketball
Keystone won its final home game of January, forcing 25 turnovers while beating visiting Penn State Berks 54-43.
The Giants trailed 14-9 after one quarter, but used a 27-9 second quarter to open a 13-point halftime lead.
Tayana Bibbins led the win with 20 points.
Keystone arrived in February with a 3-8 conference and 4-18 overall record.
Wrestling
Nero Bono won his first three bouts at 197 pounds Feb. 1 to lead Keystone by finishing second in his weight class in the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational at Lycoming College.
Bono had a pin and major decision.
The Giants finished last in the nine-team field.
