Both Abington Heights teams posted winning regular-season records, setting up playoff trips in the Northeast Region Unified Champion Schools Bocce League.

When Abington Heights concluded its schedule at home Feb. 2, the Comets were second and third out of nine teams in the league, which is operated by Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Northeast Region. Six of the other seven teams in the division still had matches to complete.

Abington Heights Team-1 finished 6-2 in the West Section after losing the finale to first-place Mountain View by a 6-2 score. Abington Heights Team-2 then came up with a valuable win, beating the same Mountain View team 10-1 to finish 5-3. It was just the second loss in 10 matches for the Eagles.

Lackawanna Trail also completed its regular season, finishing 5-7. The Lions were sixth out of nine teams in the West Section at that point.

The Northeast Region will conduct its playoff tournament, with all three rounds set for Feb. 17, at North Pocono High School. The tournament will include eight teams, at least four from the East Section and at least three from the West Section.
