Abigail Haines and Naomi Paull finished 1-2 Saturday to lead Clarks Summit University to the title in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship Preview Meet at Bryn Athyn College.
Haines ran the 6-kilometer course in 25:12.8, a half-second in front of her teammate. They were both more than a minute ahead of the rest of the pack.
Similarly, Clarks Summit ran away from the pack in the team scoring, taking the title with 29 points. Cairn University was second in the eight-team field with 67.
Kristen Hayden was fifth and Lauren Ames 10th out of 52 runners.
Shyanne Bennett was seventh to lead Keystone College, which did not have enough runners for a team score.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Cameren Brice was second individually and Keystone College was second out of seven teams in the CSAC Championship Preview.
Clarks Summit University, led by Adam Meaders in eighth, placed fourth.
FOOTBALL
Keystone College used six touchdown passes to pick up the second win of its first year back in the sport when it defeated the King’s College junior varsity, 39-22, Sunday in Wilkes-Barre.
The Giants used four quarterbacks, who combined to go 17-for-22 for 265 yards passing. Thomas Roach led the way, hitting 10 of 12 attempts for 113 yards and three touchdowns.
Angel Rodriguez caught three of the touchdown passes.
FIELD HOCKEY
Savanna Robinson scored the only goal of the game Saturday as Keystone College improved to 2-0 in the CSAC and evened its overall record at 6-6 with a 1-0 victory over host Cedar Crest College.
The goal gave Robinson 14 on the season and 103 points for her career. She is within three of the career points record set by Hope Krolewski (2009-13).
