In the entire year, there are no other days as delightful as those of the month of October.

Brilliant colors, cool temperatures at night not to mention cozying up to a toasty fire with good book.

The month of October has something for everyone at Dalton Community Library.

Our Fall Book and Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. in the basement of the library. No donations will be accepted the month of October as we need to set up for the sale and clean up after. We will be taking donations starting in November in preparation for our Spring Book and Bake Sale in April.

The community’s ongoing support helps with library improvements and special programs.

The Dalton Community Library participated in the Farm to Family Fest in conjunction with Beta Bread at Steamside Park in Dalton on Sept. 23. Beta Bread is a longtime supporter of our Book and Bake Sales. The library distributed free books to children and families in addition to providing coloring activities which were cooperated by Everhart Museum. Presidential historian Dr. Larry Cook also set up a special display about president Jimmy Carter.

Dalton Kids’ Time has begun for the fall, and we meet every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Our program is a continuation of our summer program teaching sign language and Chinese. We are adding coding for the fall.

The young adult group meets from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with mind-expanding activities, chess and Chinese checkers. On Monday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m., we will be hosting a murder mystery party for young adults presented by Lackawanna County Library system. Please join us for some investigative fun. At 6 p.m., there will be another fun program, Taste the World.

The bridge group is in full swing for the fall and meets every Tuesday from 10 to noon. Novice and experienced players are welcome. Come test your prowess with our group as new members are always welcome.

Saturday Spotlight has begun for the fall season, and we will be meeting on Oct. 28 10:30 a.m. to noon. Please call the library for the title of the next book we will be discussing.

If you have any questions about up-coming activities this month, the library phone number is 570-563-2014. Stay healthy and enjoy the sights and smells of a spectacular fall.
