June is busting out all over it seems.
We are blessed with exceptionally beautiful foliage and flowers this year. It is hard to believe that summer is just around the corner.
In May, a nice crowd joined us at Dalton Community Library for a public showing of the documentary “The Right to Read” then a discussion with Sandy, a member of the Lackawanna County Literacy Committee followed.
Dalton Community Library’s Summer Kid’s Time and Young Adults Program will begin on June 17 and run for 8 weeks until the middle of August. This years’ programming will be a combination of art, music and American sign language/Chinese.
The Kids’ Time program will meet Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Young Adults will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Young Adult programming will follow after with chess, Chinese checkers and other mind-expanding games. The theme for LCLS Summer Reading program is “Adventure begins at Your Library” this year.
There are reading and activity challenges that all ages may participate in to win prizes! Saturday Spotlight will be going on hiatus for the summer months and will start up again in September. If you would like to get a jump on our reading selection for September, we will be discussing “The Covenant of Water” by Andrew Verghese.
DCL’s Tuesday Bridge group will be meeting throughout the Summer from 10 a.m. – noon. Please feel free to join us if you would like to learn how to play or if you are experienced and enjoy a challenge.

Boredom Busters is the theme for Dalton Community Library’s June display.
Please stop into the library and find yourself a good book to immerse yourself in. Find a new hobby you might want to read about.
Please stay tuned for next month’s column as we will have more information on the summer’s programs. You may also follow Dalton Community Library’s Facebook page as we publish upcoming program info there also.
