Lackawanna County will conduct a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event on Saturday, Nov. 16.

To ensure that residents safely can dispose hazardous household materials, the Lackawanna County Department of Environmental Sustainability will conduct a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at PNC Field in Moosic.

The event is free but open only to Lackawanna County residents. County residents who want to dispose of materials must register in advance at LackawannaCounty.org.

Acceptable materials include:

• Adhesives.

• Automotive fluids (maximum five gallons per container), including motor oil and antifreeze.

• Automotive and household batteries (no electric vehicle batteries).

• Lithium button and home appliance batteries.

• Fire extinguishers.

• Floor and furniture polish.

• Fuel, including kerosene, gasoline and propane.

• Rodent and other poisons.

• Household chemicals and pool treatments.

• Lawn treatments, including herbicides and pesticides (maximum 40-pound bags).

• Oil-based paint (no latex paint).

• Rust inhibitors.

• Stains.

• Turpentine and thinners.

• Driveway sealer.

• Fluorescent light bulbs.

• Propane and fire extinguisher tanks.

• Liquid mercury.

Bleach.

• Corrosive/flammable compounds.
