The Gathering Place has announced its list of activities for the month of December.
Their first Christmas class will be on Dec. 12 at noon. Carol Rubel will bring her background in teaching English to present “Mistletoe, Holly and Ghosts,” a closer look at Charles Dickens’ magical tale of karma, second chances and choices. Dickens wrote “A Christmas Carol” in 1843, yet this story of Scrooge and the ghosts that visit him never grows old. Carol will lead a discussion about why this beloved character never grows stale. The fee to participate is $5.
The Gathering Place’s second class is at noon on Dec. 13 and is free to all. Abby Peck will help participants create their own live wreath from pine branches and wire. Snacks and hot cider will be served.
Also on Dec. 13, at 6 p.m., a Paint and Sip a Christmas creation gathering will be hosted by artist Cadee Gillette. Participants are encouraged to join others and enjoy the evening as they create their own work of art. The price of participation is $30.
On Dec. 19, at 6 p.m., Kate Fleming and Joe Statuto will lead a class in guided meditation to stay calm during busy holidays. Registration is $5.
On Dec. 7, The Gathering Place will participate in Clarks Summit’s Small Town Shop Around and will feature area vendors. So Threads and Co. will offer embroidered towels and sweatshirts, Ora Home company will have vintage goods for purchase, Jennifer Davis of Modern Vintage will put permanent jewelry on your wrist, and Sharin Fischer and Meira Levin will sell their pottery and fused glass art.
Also in December, The Gathering Place will take part in Stay Late on State from 4 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with local businesses. Various vendors will sell their art work.
