Robby Lucas reached two milestones as the Lackawanna League regular season was winding down.

Lucas scored the 1,000th point of his career when he scored 12 points during a 46-44 loss to Valley View.

The senior forward then set a school record with nine 3-pointers and a career-high with 35 points in the Feb. 13 regular-season finale when Abington Heights defeated West Scranton 71-42.

“It’s all about taking what the defense is giving you,” Lucas said. “They were playing zone and we were hitting shooting over the zone.”

The previous highs for Lucas had come with seven 3-pointers and 34 points against Valley View last season as a junior.

The 1,000-point mark arrived on a three-point play “off a great pass from Billy (Johnson),” according to Lucas.

Abington Heights went 2-3 in February to finish the regular season at 12-10.

The team had a chance to move into a first-place tie in Lackawanna Division 1 Feb. 7, but lost to Scranton Prep at home that night when they were honoring former coaches Ken Bianchi and Jeff McLane.

Bianchi, with McLane as his assistant, had coached 28 years at Abington Heights before retiring after last season. He went 613-145 with a 2018 state championship, an unbeaten 2023-24 regular season, 15 division titles and 14 District 2 championships.
