RANSOM TWP. — During September’s supervisors’ meeting, John Hambrose, Alliance Landfill’s community relations coordinator, pitched the idea of converting the township’s waste collection to automated service. He discussed options of the size of containers – the 96-gallon container or the smaller 64-gallon container, which he brought to the meeting. He revealed that it would take a few months to put this project together.
“We wanted to begin talking about it and make sure the township had the opportunity to look at these containers,” he said.
Paul, of Apex Hauling Company in Dunmore, explained that he is receiving automated trucks called ‘ASL trucks’. He said that they will eliminate injuries of the helper from either falling off the truck or lifting the garbage cans. He also said that the 96-gallon toter will be used for trash and the 64-gallon toter will be used for recycling. He mentioned that the these toters are durable, safe, and efficient.
“It makes it safer for the driver and a lot safer for everybody,” he said.
