WAVERLY TWP. — The Waverly Community House (the Comm) announced it was awarded a grant from the Scranton Area Community Foundation to support technology enhancements in its Comm Kids Early Childhood Education Program.

The grant, received on April 15, 2024, funded the purchase and installation of four interactive Smart Boards in Comm Kids classrooms, strengthening instructional quality and creating more engaging learning environments for young students. The Smart Boards are now fully integrated into daily classroom instruction and are used for interactive lessons, group activities, and early literacy and numeracy development.

“This investment allows our educators to engage children in dynamic, developmentally appropriate ways and better support diverse learning styles,” said Gia Tugend, executive director of The Waverly Community House. “We are deeply grateful to the Scranton Area Community Foundation for recognizing the importance of early childhood education and for supporting our efforts to provide high-quality learning experiences for families in our community.”

The Smart Boards have already made a visible impact in classrooms, increasing student engagement and enthusiasm for learning. Parents have also expressed appreciation for the enhanced technology, noting improved communication about classroom activities and a greater understanding of their children’s learning experiences.

The Waverly Community House’s Comm Kids Program serves children and families throughout the region by providing high-quality early learning and care in a nurturing, inclusive environment. Support from the Scranton Area Community Foundation helps ensure that the Comm continues to respond to evolving educational needs while preparing children for future success.
